About Us

Catalyst has established itself as New Zealand's pre-eminent open source solutions provider through commitment to our company's approach and our achievements to date. It now brings that successful approach to Europe.

Brief history

Catalyst began our outsourced services some ten years ago based in Wellington, New Zealand. Since that time we have grown to host over 200 servers within our primary environment, with other remote servers also managed by our team. Over time Catalyst has built an impressive resume of projects built on open-source technologies  - including the SRS, Electoral Enrolment Centre, Fairfax New Zealand, TAB, Open Polytechnic and Telecom open source based development, hosting and support contracts. Open Source technologies have allowed us to grow these services well beyond what we could have achieved using proprietary technologies. Our software development business has specialised in open source technologies and will retain this focus.

Company Name: Catalyst .Net Ltd
Staff levels: Catalyst currently has over 100 staff based in locations around the world.

Openness

Catalyst is unique for an organisation with our size and range of services in that we have a long-held commitment to open standards and open source technologies. We are advocates of open technologies and philosophies and the benefits they can bring to our clients.

Our open consultative approach has given us the trust of, and involvement in, some of New Zealand's most highly regarded businesses.

Philosophically, Catalyst is averse to locking clients into our offerings, be that our skill sets, or any intellectual property we may bring to any project. We believe clients pay us for our expertise, not for the software components we may bring with us to use in development projects.

Knowledge transfer

We expect our clients to be more knowledgeable as a result of their involvement with our staff, and we expect to learn from this interaction too.

Innovation

Catalyst is fortunate in that we work with a wide variety of technologies and services in a diverse range of industries. Open source has been a key enabler in this. It has allowed us the freedom to experiment in services and technologies such as VOIP, video conferencing and mobility telephony. Our R&D programme has introduced us to new business sectors such as health, education, mobile games, online news, and hosting.

Catalyst Europe

In early 2009 Catalyst IT Europe Limited was registered as a private company in the United Kingdom with offices in Reading, Berkshire.  We are commited to bringing our innovative open-source approach to the European community while retaining access to the comprehensive resources, infrastructure and expertise of the long-standing New Zealand company.

Catalyst IT have a proven reputation as a deliverer, with major clients investing heavily in Catalyst services over long periods of time. Our open consultative approach enables our clients to trust Catalyst as their technology partner.

Our clients pay us for our expertise. We are averse to locking clients into our offerings, be that our skill sets, or any intellectual property we may bring to a project. We share our experiences and intellectual property with our clients. We also do not charge for software components we may bring with us, to use in development projects.

Partnerships

Catalyst operates partnering relationships with many of our clients. We understand their business objectives, we offer them priority access to staff, and we deliver timely quality services at a very competitive cost. We have no doubts we can operate a long-term business relationship that will satisfy your expectations.
