Catalyst gets more kiwi classrooms online with BigBlueButton

by Chloe Gunn

Catalyst partners with Blindside Networks - founders and managers of the BigBlueButton project, to extend online classrooms to more learners across New Zealand.

BigBlueButton is an open source web conferencing system and virtual classroom solution that enables teaching of remote learners online.

This partnership means that Catalyst can provide Blindside's BigBlueButton platform - which integrates seamlessly with Moodle and Totara - to enable teachers and trainers to deliver lessons in virtual classrooms.

Paul Stevens, Catalyst Open Knowledge Manager, said, "I am very excited about this partnership - Big Blue button is going to be a fantastic addition to our Moodle and Totara offerings that will offer seamless classroom and webinar integration."

BigBlueButton’s features include real-time sharing of audio, video, slides, chat, and screen, so that learners can easily interact with and follow the teachers.Learners can also share emoji icons, and participate in polls, and breakout rooms.
