Catalyst announced last week that it was opening applications for the annual Open Source Academy, to be held in January 2016.
Every year, since 2011, Catalyst has hosted secondary school students from around the country for a two-week immersion course in open source software and development.
Students learn about programming with open source, the software development lifecycle, and what working in a professional development company entails.
In the second week of the course, they get to contribute to a real open source project, working alongside mentors from Catalyst and other open source companies.
Every year the Academy is oversubscribed, so students wanting to challenge themselves and learn invaluable professional skills are encouraged to apply early. The course is free and open to all Year 11-13 students in New Zealand.
