Do I need to host my Moodle with Catalyst to use the Educators’ Pack?

No, the Educators’ Pack was developed for institutions that manage their own Moodle. You keep full control of your hosting, infrastructure, and data. The pack simply adds the tools and features that make self-hosting easier to manage and evolve.

How is this different from what we can install ourselves from the Moodle plugin directory?

Every plugin in the Educators’ Pack is open source, but it’s been tested, secured, and optimised by Catalyst’s global development teams. We handle the configuration, compatibility, and ongoing maintenance so your team can spend time on teaching and learning, not troubleshooting.

Some plugins included in the Educators’ Pack are not available through the public Moodle plugin directory; they’ve only previously been available to Catalyst’s hosted clients.

Additionally, several components of the pack rely on Catalyst-hosted backend services, such as STACK, CodeRunner, and Matomo.

What if our Moodle is several versions behind?

Catalyst will test the components of the Educators’ Pack against the current Long Term Support (LTS) versions of Moodle.

Many of the plugins will work on both older and newer versions, but we cannot guarantee performance on untested Moodle releases.

If you’re running an older version, our consultants can advise on compatibility and help plan an upgrade path if required.

Is this a one-time install or a subscription?

The Educators’ Pack is a subscription-based bundle, ensuring you continue to receive updates, patches, and support as Moodle evolves. It’s designed to keep your platform sustainable long-term.

Who can help us get started?

Our Moodle experts will walk you through a short demo session, discuss your current setup, and create an implementation plan tailored to your institution.

You’ll then be given access to a Git repository or zip download,  whichever best suits your institution’s needs.

From there, your team can install the pack onto your Moodle environment, and Catalyst consultants will provide configuration support for any plugins that require integration with Catalyst-hosted backend services.

How much does the Educators’ Pack cost?

The Educators’ Pack is offered as an annual subscription bundle priced at £8,000 per year, giving you continuous access to updates, testing, and support as Moodle evolves with no hidden extras or one-off plugin fees.

This yearly subscription ensures your tools remain secure, compatible, and fully supported by Catalyst’s development team.
